Managing Waste in home

Use cloth bags instead of plastic.

Take your own bags.

Buy food in large quantities or in bulk.

Buy food that has less packaging.

Buy products made from recycled materials.

Save your food scraps and yard cuttings from the trash.

Don't use bottled drinks unless you have to.

Reduce your paper usage.

Reuse containers.

Consider making your own household cleaners and detergents.

Donate items when possible.

Find uses for things you discard.

Do vermicomposting.

Follow your city's recycling policies.

Dispose of trash and hazardous waste properly.

Make gifts and cards for family and friends, rather than buying them.

Open old envelopes carefully so that they can be reused, and use the back of used paper.
